Of course Bob was known for his amazing advocacy. And Bob also made singularly delicious sandwiches, had unbelievable anecdotes (like successfully negotiating with Fidel Castro to hold a baseball series in Cuba with the A's only to have Reagan say no), and a large streak of mischievousness.
I am often asked by young lawyers how I got into the energy industry and the truth is that it was all Bob. He gave me my first real legal job (after I'd been rejected from 85). He mentored a generation of BIPOC professionals and, as he would phrase, "was responsible for billions of dollars of investment in communities of color." Thank you for teaching me to be an advocate, Bob. Your legacy lives on in all of us. ❤️
