Recently, another Normand (Norman) light has been extinguished from the family. My aunt Debra Normand, will always be remembered (at least by me) as someone who was smart, diligent, insightful, and one of the best Creole cooks I knew. She was my mom's baby sister. Tough as nails, but loved by all: she will be missed by her children, siblings, and nieces and nephews. She always opened her door to everyone in her neighborhood; and made sure that some of the people, that may not have had the same blessing as her-- were welcomed, and well fed. She was not content unless everyone was stuffed to the gills! Her Creole cooking style was unique and all her own. Nobody could beat the way she cooked a pot of stewed Turkey necks. She could take a seemingly mundane dish and turn it into a culinary extravaganza! She especially showed her love to everyone with her cooking; that is how I will always remember her. She went home to be with the Lord 9/13/2020. She was Creole and Catholic. For those who are Catholic please pray the Rosary for our deceased love one. For those who are Protestant, Psalms 23, or whatever Christian petitions and prayers comes to mind will be greatly be appreciated as well.
