He was born in Calgary in 1992, and was raised in Calgary, Stettler and Red Deer, spending the last number of years living in Edmonton. Despite the mental and physical toll of living with severe hemophilia, Alex had an active childhood playing hockey and soccer and did it all with a positive attitude. Alex also enjoyed coaching, refereeing and playing with Red Deer Pond Hockey. In his later years he also enjoyed hiking, camping and golfing. Some of his best youth years were spent in the summer at the Points West Resort in Sylvan Lake. Alex has enjoyed being an uncle since the age of 4 and spoiled his nieces and nephew with his time and generous gifts and never let them pay for anything when taking them out on activities. He spent the majority of his career in customer service and he touched his co-worker’s lives deeply. Recently, Alex took a passion for hiking in the mountains of Alberta and experienced amazing hikes. One of his favourite spots was Lake Minnewanka. Alex loved travelling to Hawaii, Mexico, Cuba, Yukon, Alaska, California, Kelowna, Invermere and the mountains. Recently, he took on a vegetarian diet under the wing of his best friend and roommate, Gagan. Alex would have spent hours cruising the aisles at Value Village searching for the perfect deal, especially when it came to Stanley thermoses. He loved simple things in life, he hoped to one day build a tiny house and live off the grid. He had a passion for movies, TV shows and books.

My Uncle Al was one of the most genuine, caring, and kind people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. It was almost impossible for me not to be in a good mood when in his presence. The majority of my memories with Alex consist of playing video games, family board games, or watching movie after movie. One of the best times was during the 2013 flood when we spent every single night for a week in the basement playing video games, watching scary movies, and drinking lots of mountain dew. Or all the movies we went to in theatres together. Especially Monsters University. I'll never forget the deep joy I felt anytime we got to spend time together... like I was lucky to get to be with him, and that everyone should be so lucky to know what it's like to spend time with such a beautiful soul.
Al, I'm sorry we didn't talk more often, it's one of my biggest regrets. I miss you. I love you. I can't wait to see you again. ❤ less
