Ann was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Margaret Hawkinson. Ann retired from the San Diego Unified School District where she was a teacher for over 36 years; over 30 years in the same classroom at Benchley-Weinberger Elementary. She obtained her Masters in education from San Diego State University. She was an active and beloved member of the Christmas Potluck Club for over 45 years. Ann is remembered fondly and appreciated by her classmates of San Diego High School class of 66 and a valuable participant in planning class reunions. Long time member of First Presbyterian Church of San Diego, where she met her husband of 33 years, Tim Winder. Ann served as an Elder and chairperson for the City Tree School and hosted bible studies from her home for over 20 years. Ann loved to travel. After retiring Ann & Tim traveled domestically and internationally for over 20 years. Ann will always be remembered for her acerbic wit, wonderful smile and as a loving and caring person. She fought a long battle with frontal temporal dementia, brave to the end she lived a very fulfilling life and will be dearly missed. Ann’s survivors include her husband of 33 years Tim Winder, her children Adam, Elizabeth, Stephanie and Caroline, five grandchildren, her sister Jane and her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10am on January 27, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church of San Diego, 320 Date Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church, “City Tree Scholarship memorial fund for Ann Winder”.
