Audrey Eloise Smith, 85, of Laurel, MD, passed away on April 7th, 2020. She was born to parents Dorothy Ann Edmonds Smith and James Mack Smith, March 27, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, NY.

She graduated from Laurinburg Institute, Laurinburgh,NC in 1955 where she studied academic programs. 

Audrey was a member and grew up at Central Baptist Church, Salt Point, NY.  After moving to Largo MD, she became a member, and worshipped at First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Upper Marlboro, MD. There she was a member of the Agape Ministry, where she gained and met many friends, which made her social persona grow. 

Audrey worked at the County Infirmary, in Millbrook, NY, for many years, until she received a position at IBM, Fishkill, NY.

Audrey worked as an Industrial Technician for 12 years at IBM.  After 12 years of service, Audrey retired from IBM in 1987.

After retirement, Audrey opened her own Deli (Smitty’s Deli) in Clinton, North Carolina, and became one of the most thriving businesses in Clinton, NC.  She then moved to Largo, MD, where she became the most well known and loved Lunch Lady at Phyllis E. Williams Elementary school, this is where some of her grandchildren attended.  The position as lunch lady gave her joy and happiness to serve the “babies” (as she called them) every day. She embraced each day to see the smiles upon their faces. She then retired from a dietician position after serving her babies for 10 years.

Audrey Eloise and Clifton Brent Smith were married in 1958 in Millbrook, NY. Together they raised 3 children: Howard James Smith, Brent Allen Smith, Jo Anne Smith.

Audrey is survived by her children: Brent A. Smith (Jaz Smith) and JoAnne Smith.  Several Grandchildren: Michael A. Pridgen (Avis Pridgen), Shaneya N. M. Smith, Torri D. Smith, Darrell A. D. Riddick, Te'Ana S. Mason, Austin Claybrook, Damara King. Several Great-Grandchildren:  Jailine Langley, Nashiah langley, Jordan Pridgen, Taylor Smith, Micah Pridgen, Blake Akers, Brennen Jones, Amari Clifton, Cayden Riddick, Royale King and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Clifton Brent Smith (Husband), Howard James Smith (Son).

The family has entrusted Rhodes Funeral with the arrangements.  Audrey Smith’s Grave-Side Service is scheduled for April 17th, 2020 at Nine Partners Lane, Millbrook, New York. A Homegoing service will be scheduled at a later date. Brent A. Smith -Pastor will officiate the ceremony.
