Barbara “Barbie” Louise Meadows, 76, of Conway, SC., passed away in her home on Wednesday June 9, 2021.
She was born August 28, 1944 in Oak Hill, WV. She graduated from Collins High School and moved to Washington D.C., where she met her husband Carl Ray Meadows with whom she had two sons; Alan and Mark. She worked as a secretary for the U.S. Coast Guard, a bus driver and later retired in 2003 after many years working for the U.S. Navy as a budget analyst for F/A- 18 hornet program office. She had been a member at Newington Baptist Church, in Gloucester, VA and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Grace Chapter # 021. She spent most of her time after retirement traveling, going to church, going to the beach and most ‘importantly’ playing dominoes! She was able to enjoy lots of time with her cousins at the beach house, with her grandchildren and great grandchild. She was loved by so many and will forever be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hayward Carlisle and Venia Lee Lilly Bowling. Siblings; Frank (Edie) Bowling, Elmer (Velma) Bowling, and Evelyn (Toby) Harris. And she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years Carl Ray Meadows, in August of 2009.
She is survived by 2 siblings; Ralph Bowling and his wife Mary, and Virginia (Carol) Ivey and her husband Buck. A loving sister- in- Law, Linda Hornby, Brother-In- Law, Jim Meadows. Two sons, Alan Lee and Mark Ray and their wives, Virginia and Cynthia; and seven grandchildren, Bryan, Alyssa, Robbie, Steven, Tyler, Anna, and Joseph. One Great- Grandchild Corinne.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date and will be held in Gloucester, VA.
