Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to elude the medical community, although research has shown that both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles. less

Billie was born in Henrietta, Texas on November 22, 1960 to Rev. O.M. "Buddy" Hume and Thelma Hume. She lived most of her life in Garland, Texas and graduated from Lakeview Centennial High School in 1979. Billie battled many health issues related to diabetes, and passed away on October 26, 2020 due to a stroke.
Billie worked for many years in management for the former convenience store Stop-N-Go and also worked in customer service at New York Life Insurance. She was known for her incredible wit and sense of humor, as well as a kind heart.
She had a deep love for her “fur babies,” and they were always her close companions. She also never met a stranger and sought to help people whenever she saw a need.
Recently, Billie cared for her sister Reta who faced a brave battle with complications of POEMS Syndrome. Billie and her sister Reta were very close and often stated they couldn't live without each other. After Billie’s passing, Reta passed away about 16 hours later.
Billie and Reta were known by many as The Sisters Hume. More often they than not, they were inseparable and strived to entertain the masses. It would be greatly appreciated if you could share your memories of them. We know they touched the lives of many people.

We went through Jr High and graduated from Lakeview Centennial High School together. I remember her as this pretty, quiet, shy little girl with long straight blonde hair. We lost touch after High School and then many years later we reconnected on Facebook. She had grown up and came out of her shell and was very funny. I have enjoyed her posts with her and Reta. They have made me laugh and also to pray. I will miss the Sister Humes posts. RIP my friend. I remember a post that Billie recently posted about how much she missed her mom and dad. Well your reunited now as family. Go sing with the Angels. less
Oh my goodness Billie and I go way way back! Many fun filled years of growing up at Texas Church of God Youth Camps and Camp Meetings. Her humor will be missed. God bless the Hume family

I got to know her that Christmas and saw her compassion and desire to help this mom and her kids. After this, I would watch all the videos with her and Reta and saw her love for laughter the joy that she had. Both she and Reta made me laugh and I was drawn to their joy. Even in harder times, she would find something to laugh at and I saw her strength through the laughter, a strength that was deeply rooted in her faith in God. I will miss the videos of the Sisters Hume but I know that they are in Heaven, praising their savior and probably cutting up and making people laugh still! less
