Jack was born in Copeville, TX to a vibrant family with an open door for people in need and dinner time conversation that required a quick wit and generous sense of humor. His life was absolutely defined by a desire to learn more about the world. He was devotedly bookish; recalling how his Father once chided him for being buried in a book by Bernard Shaw when he could be sitting with the family. It turns out he never did learn how to put down a good book. Jack had many professional roles but one of the most enduring was as the founder of OSI, his beloved business, where he met interesting, hard-working people every day. He delighted in his daily chats with clients and staff and would come home with stories about people who were making something new through their own ingenuity and skill. Jack passed away at home after a short illness, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Selette Pearce. He leaves behind his four children, 5 grandchildren, extended family, and a community of people who shared his intellectual passions and commitment to seeing how much one person can do with their single, precious life.
Rest in Peace Mr. Pearce. You were a fair and patient office provider but more importantly a very engaging man with real passion for business, politics and people. It was an honor.

When I came from Fort Worth, Texas to DC to attend law school 10 years ago, I called OSI and had the fortune of speaking with Jack, who answered the phone. I sought to establish my tutoring business in DC while I studied, and Jack welcomed me to 1629 K Street NW from the first call.
A decade later, my life and legal practice are thriving. Every now and then I see another lawyer's brief with the recognizable K Street address. I hope they too recognize the person behind the address. less
