Charles (“Charlie”) Gilcrest was a lifelong San Leandro resident.  Charlie served for four years on the Eden Health District Board of Directors and actively volunteered his time for numerous community events and education fundraising projects.  Charlie was also active in the community in a variety of ways, including his past service as a board member of the Davis Street Community Center, the City of San Leandro’s Human Services Commission, Board of Zoning Adjustments, the City of San Leandro’s Joint Project Area Redevelopment Advisory Committee, the Business Association of South San Leandro, and the Halcyon-Foothill Neighborhood Association.
