It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Chung Lung (龍中軍)at the age of 87 years in Santa Clara, California.
Chung is survived by Cecelia, his wife of 58 years; his sons, Aaron(Wendy), Terence(Elaine), Derrick(Audrey), grandsons Andrew, Jonathan, Brandon, Eugene and Preston; sister 龍池影 (Eunice), brother 龍右軍 and sister 龍佐軍 (Susanne); and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Dad was predeceased by his parents 龍雲 and 田枕槎, and sisters 龍潭影 and 龍泉影.
Dad’s official birthday was November 8, 1932 in Peiping (present day Beijing), in what was then the Republic of China 中華民國.
Chung began his engineering career with a BS from 國立成功大學 in Taiwan, an MS from University of Florida, and a PhD Civil Engineering from Purdue University in Indiana. Chung’s engineering career spanned almost 50 years between Boeing, Bechtel, UTC, GE, Lockheed, Westinghouse, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
Dad loved beef, seafood, and buffets. He liked making hand-pulled noodles, soy milk and steamed breads. He loved drinking tea and reading novels. He loved designing and building structures. He designed his San Jose house of over 40 years. He loved tending to his fruit trees. He loved to take the family on travels. He loved to balance baby sons and grandsons standing on his hand.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara, and the staff at.the assisted living facilities of Madera Villa in Sunnyvale and Belmont Village in Santa Clara for their care and compassion.
Cremation was complete in the week of August 24. Private scattering of ashes over the Pacific Ocean will occur in the near future.
A family gathering will be planned as soon as COVID-19 lockdowns are lifted, maybe in the spring or fall of 2021.
