It is with tremendous sorrow our family announces that Corey Watley Crowe, 50, of Gadsden, AL, entered the arms of our Heavenly Father on June 11, 2019. Corey was born May 22, 1969, to John and Billie Jean Watley, natives of Ragland, AL. She was the youngest of their three daughters. Corey was known for her contagious laugh, quick wit, and a personality that often rivaled the size of her hair.
Corey was a top-producing Realtor with ERA King Real Estate in Gadsden, AL. She was an active board member of the YMCA of Coosa Valley and American Red Cross, a mentor at Eura Brown Elementary School, and an avid volunteer with United Way of Etowah County and at the annual Community Thanksgiving event.
To know Corey was to love her. She will be remembered as a champion of underdogs, a beacon of light in darkness, and a true and loyal friend to all that knew her. She loved cooking, Helmet Head hairspray, karaoke, and corn on the cob.
She was greeted at Heaven’s gate by her father, John S. Watley, her paternal grandparents, Archie and Johnnie Watley, her maternal grandparents, Ernest and Inez White, her beloved standard poodle, Archie Paul, and a host of other animals that each had human names.
Corey is survived by Ken Crowe of Gadsden, AL, her children, Madison Crowe (Matt Barr) of Atlanta, GA, Bailey Crowe of Auburn, AL, Dawson Crowe of Gadsden, AL, mother, Billie Jean Watley, of Ragland, AL, sisters, Paula Watley Blair (Dwight), of Pell City, AL, and Marty Watley of Ragland, AL, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service for Corey will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an educational fund for her son, Dawson Crowe, under the name of Corey Crowe Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo location or via PayPal at coreycrowememorialfund@gmail.com.
