Cory grew up in Fair Haven and Algonac Michigan and graduated from Algonac High School in 1995. He earned his associates degree in computer aided drafting and had a long and successful career at PTM Corporation as a design engineer.
Cory was a long-time member of the Johnny Lega’s pool league and Winner’s Circle horseshoes club. He enjoyed spending time out on the water and at his family cabin “up north” riding the trails, fishing, shooting, boating, and hiking. He was known for his genuine kindness, boisterous entrances, and fun-loving and friendly attitude.
Cory’s greatest joy was spending time with his precious children, Joshua and Emily. Being a dad to his two amazing kids was the greatest achievement and privilege of his life. He was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend who lived his life with daring and joy.
He is preceded in death by his step-father, Richard Stewart, his grandmother, Magdelene Prayter, his grandfather, Leroy Prayter, his grandmother Denise Briske, and his grandfather, Larry Finley. He is survived by his son, Joshua Prayter, his daughter, Emily Prayter, his father, Kenneth Prayter, his mother, Suzanne Stewart, his sister, Lisa (Nathan) Sandoval, his nephews, Lucas and Logan Sandoval, his step-brother, Richie (Natalie) Stewart, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5th at 2:00 pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles located at 7542 Palms Rd, Ira Township, Michigan.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Cory's legacy may make donations to the fund that is set up to support the financial security of his children.
