Daniel. R. Dundon, 69, of Erie passed peacefully on June 25, 2021 at his home. He was born September 7, 1951, in Erie, the son of the late Raymond J. Dundon and Dorothy B. Dundon. Dan lived, loved, worked, and played in Erie all his life.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kathleen V. Dundon, an adoring son, Christopher and his wife Cassie, of Millcreek, a grateful daughter, Laura French and her husband, Andrew, and grandson Hunter of Millcreek as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dan graduated from Gannon University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master in Business Administration, earning the Masters Achievement Award. He worked at AMSCO and STERIS for 37 years where he applied his ingenious aptitude for math and design by developing functional hospital spaces. Dan achieved early "alarm clock freedom" and retired in 2010. He was an active member of the Erie Yacht Club where he served as Board member and Chairman of the Entertainment Committee for many years.
Dan was wise, fun-loving, compassionate, and generous. He was the consummate father, friend, and mentor. He had a heart for others in need and was often able to impact people in profound and positive ways. He truly lived life to the fullest enjoying the simple pleasures of family, friends, the outdoors, good food and drink, and his pets. Dan was passionate about sailboat racing and cruising; stargazing and traveling with his wife; and restoring classic automobiles and wrenching in the garage with his son.
Dan always enjoyed the company of those who called him friend and a good party. He was known to entertain guests with his spirited dance moves and elaborate seasonal costumes. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Dan's life at the Erie Yacht Club on July 13th from 5-8pm.
For many, the world is a better place because Daniel Dundon was part of it. The vitality of his spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him.
