In sports, in high school, you get the opportunity to spend a lot of time together and truly get to know each other. Des was kind, joyful, talented and always smiling. I remember sitting in the bleachers together after one particularly long volleyball jamboree. Des came up with the idea for us all the make duck bills with Pringles. She immediately changed the mood and lightened us all. She was truly honored yesterday and will be sincerely missed. less

I still remember that little girl as I drove her to school, always smiling and so sweet. Mark remembers playing with her with all the other kids in the neighborhood. She was a super talented athlete who was so fierce on the court, yet so softhearted and kind off. Her laugh was contagious and you were guaranteed a good time when she was around. Even though I was different than many of my peers, Des always accepted me and commended me for the person I was. She had an amazing spirit above out her and will be greatly missed. Prayers of love and peace to her family. less

Des, you entered my life when Becca and I first began dating. You showed me your strong, admirable character when you initially exhibited your fierce protectiveness for your friend. I greatly respected that, and as my friendship grew with you, I continually was reminded of all of your beautiful qualities. You were giving, caring, compassionate, loving, patient and kind, not to mention funny - we had some good belly laughs and made some amazing memories that I will cherish and hold on to forever. These qualities were exemplified by all the wonderful relationships you formed with all of your close, dear friends. You were a force, a force that I will miss dearly and will forever hold your memory close to my heart. Thank you for coming into my life. You were a true blessing to know. My love & support goes out to your family each & every day moving forward. I love you, Desiree. ❤️ less

We had to wait until we were around 9 to get on the same team and of course we bonded over our dimples and we became instant friends. You have been the most genuine true friend and confidant to me since then. We shared so many secrets, memories, laughs, cries, dreams and ambitions on and off the field and courts. I'll never forget slumber parties at your house in your powder pink bedroom with sports posters plastered all over to try to cover the pink and watching the Pokey Little Puppy and Ace Ventura in your downstairs. Your love of sports was undeniable and it was just pure joy to have Husky season tickets with you, sailgating & tailgating and that stadium was your absolute happy place and I'm so so lucky to have gotten to share that with you. I will miss you more than anyone will ever know but I know I will see you when the sun shines. Love you my dear Friend. ~Keri or as you would always call me KT less

You have been in my thoughts constantly since I heard on Monday, Keri. It was clear how much you two loved each other from the pics Des always shared. This is such a tremendous loss and I pray you find peace and comfort in the days to come.

I have watched you change into someone that you didn’t want to be. Once in a while, I would get a glimpse of my best friend, but for the most part, you had a emptiness in your eyes. I miss you terribly. I have never had a friend that I could laugh so hard with. Your kind words always lifted me up. You let my kid call you Daddy Dez. The dancing that we have done! Dance battles in the clubs then turned into dance battles in your kitchen with Charlee. The last dance battle was at a sober dance that I made you go to. Thanks for always being my plus one. And thanks for always making me smile no matter how hard it is. I love you. less

Whew - what a long paddle that was! I also recall the evening we were sitting on my deck and I told you I was trying to find someone who would had vacation time and an interest in roadtripping/camping for two weeks. I was so shocked when you said "I'd love to do that with you!" You we’re always down for anything especially if it involved music, dancing or the outdoors. You will be forever loved and forever missed, my sweet home fries. ❤️ less

Whoever thought that you and I would end up the best of friends? On paper, we couldn't be more different. You loved women and I love men. You loved sports and I can't even throw a football. But none of those things mattered because from the moment we first met, we were inseparable.
When I accidentally barged into your room that fateful night at Lindsay and Ryan's party, I was immediately struck by your warmth and smile. You made me feel welcome at a time when I didn't know a lot of people. And even in that moment, we both made each other laugh, something that would become a common theme between us for years to come. In fact, it continued the next time I came over, when I mistakenly called you Jezebel instead of Desiree because I couldn't remember your name. :)
As time went on, we became confidants and shared everything with each other. We knew of each other's deepest secrets, fears, hopes, and dreams. We both shared a zest for life that was delicately balanced by our struggles with depression. And we knew how to have a good time. Oh my goodness did we ever have fun when we were together! I'm gonna greatly miss that smile and, of course, those trademark dimples.
I know there will be difficult days ahead, but I’m gonna do my best to make the most of all of them and make you proud. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to go through in my life but I'm at peace with the fact that you're no longer suffering. I love you with everything that I've got and always will. You are forever in my heart, sweet girl.
