On Saturday the 7th of January at 8:10 AM in 1978, a bouncing baby boy was born to Charles and Christal Wildgoose, and they named him Charles Edward III. Eddie, as he was affectionately called, was such a loving child with an infectious personality that seemed to draw people to him.
At the age of 4, he attended the early learning center at Queen’s College and remained there until the end of the eighth grade. He then went on to complete high school at Saint Augustine’s College where he graduated in 1995. Eddie spent two years at the College of the Bahamas where he graduated with an Associate’s Degree before moving on to the University of the West Indies where he was accepted into the medical program two year later. In 2005, Eddie graduated from med school and joined the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department of Princess Margaret Hospital.
Eddie loved what he did and formed lifelong relationships with his patients (many of whom thought the world of him). Not only did he cater to their medical needs, but he also provided physical and mental support as well.
On November 3, 2006, Eddie married Danzara Gibson, and their union produced two lovely children in Diyari and Arazand. Trying to create a better way of life for his family, he decided to relocate to one of the family islands. After much thought, he decided to settle in Exuma. This move proved to be one of the best decisions that Eddie ever made.
Eddie opened a family practice which he named after his kids, Di-ara Comprehensive Medical Center, and his business immediately took off from there. Every patient was special to him, and no one was denied access or attention which is why he gained so much love from the people of Exuma.
Not only were his patients important to him, but family held a very special place in his heart as well. Eddie would overextend himself to ensure that his family felt comfortable coming to him for anything. He helped so many people financially, physically, and emotionally, expecting nothing in return. If you were experiencing medical issues, all you had to do was pick up the phone and he would have you sorted out in no time. That was the type of person Eddie was - caring, loving, and kind.
On August 4, 2021, Eddie was having some health concerns, so his mother convinced him to come to Nassau, and she took some time off from work to take care of him. They got the chance to spend quite a bit of quality time together, but after he didn’t seem to be getting any better, his mother encouraged him to see a local physician. The other doctor tried his best to stabilize Eddie, but eventually suggested that it would be better if a team of doctors managed him instead. As a result, he was admitted to the emergency room of Doctor’s Hospital on Saturday August 14, 2021.
On Sunday August 15, 2021, at approximately 8:30 A.M., his mother received a call requesting that she report to the Doctor’s Hospital emergency room. It was there that Eddie’s parents received the news that their oldest child had passed away.
Although many persons will remember him for his incredible skills as a doctor, Eddie will always be remembered for his fun-loving personality and ability to brighten the gloomiest of situations.
Eddie is survived by numerous family members and friends who loved and cherished him dearly. While it would be impossible to mention everyone, the list below encompasses many of his loved ones who will carry on his memory.
