OBITUARY
Dr. Clifford Pitt was a native of St. Vincent & the Grenadines in the Caribbean. Dr. Pitt lived and worked in the United Kingdom, developing his professional and business skills in various institutions and companies. He was the pastor of a church district in London for several years and then accepted a position in the United States as Professor of Religion & Theology at Oakwood College (now University). Dr. Clifford Pitt was a native of St. Vincent & the Grenadines in the Caribbean. Dr. Pitt lived and worked in the United Kingdom, developing his professional and business skills in various institutions and companies. He was the pastor of a church district in London for several years and then accepted a position in the United States as Professor of Religion & Theology at Oakwood College (now University). He later served as Academic Dean at Miles College. In 2011, Dr. Pitt accepted the challenging task of establishing the first Seventh-day Adventist University in West Africa, which serves Liberia, Sierra Leone and The Gambia. He also served as the University's first President. Dr. Pitt honed and sharpened his business acumen by doing marketing and sales in the UK, Sweden and Norway and later established offices in Panama and Trinidad & Tobago. He moved to Ghana and went on to establish an asset management company that provided a wide range of financial services to hundreds of clients.
Dr. Pitt earned a BA in Religion from Newbold College in England, where he was Student-of-the-Year for his senior year, President and Valedictorian of the graduating class and one of only two students to graduate with honors. He earned an MA in Religion from Andrews University in Michigan, USA and completed his formal education with a PhD in Theology from the University of London and a law degree from Miles Law School in the United States.
He is survived by his daughters Amanda and Carolyn and his grandchildren Ariana, Jaden, William, and Malia.
