IN LOVING MEMORY OF FRANCES N. CASEY
[01/31/1943 - 06/12/2020]
Frances N. Casey (formerly Frances Wells Nutt) was known by friends and family as “Francie.”
Frances N. Casey was born in Kansas City Missouri on January 31, 1943, and was adopted by her mother, Frances Nutt. Francie and her sister Elizabeth H. Nutt grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, near their grandfather, Joseph Randolph Nutt. Francie moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1962, at age 19, after her mother, Frances Nutt, died from tuberculosis, at the young age of 40. In 1972, Francie married her husband, Jerome (“Jerry”) P. Casey, and together Francie and Jerry had two children of their own, Brendan and Kevin Casey. Jerry and Francie owned and operated the Gemini Bar in Lake Oswego, for many years, until Jerry’s untimely death in October of 1993.
Francie was a pragmatic woman, whose smile and laughter lit up the room. She was also an avid competitive skydiver for many years, and loved to tell stories of perfecting various skydiving formations, adventures with her friend Tex, and of her travels abroad, particularly her trips to Europe, China, and Alaska. Francie had a big heart for animals, was a generous woman, and valued relationships more than money. Francie’s favorite poem was the Man in the Glass, by Dale Wimbrow.
In her later years, Francie bought a home on the water in North Bend, on the Oregon coast, where she enjoyed time with her sons, grandson, and two dogs, Sasha and Sajin.
After a brief illness, Francie passed away June 12, 2020. She was loved by many and will forever be missed. Francie is preceded in death by her late-husband, Jerome P. Casey, and her sister, Elizabeth H. Nutt, of Candia, New Hampshire, who died on October 22, 2016. Francie is survived by her two loving children, Brendan Casey, Kevin Casey; her two step-children, Sean Patrick Casey, and Mary Shannon Casey; and her favorite grandson, Jack Clinton Casey.
Condolences may be shared with the family at the Celebration of Life Services, which will be announced at a later date.
