OBITUARY
Gary left an indelible mark on everyone met and worked with. His dry, sharp wit and sense of humor were his trademarks that endeared him to all. A testament to Gary's impact are the many close friendships Gary maintained with colleagues over 10, 15, and 20 years. He was selfless, positive, and he always cared for others before himself. All of those who knew Gary are lucky to have been in his presence, and his memory will live on even in his absence. He was one of a kind, and this memorial is intended to allow family and friends to share their memories about Gary with one another. Please especially keep David Collier, Gary's sister Cindy, and Gary's nephew, Matthew in your thoughts and prayers as they are dealing with the loss of Gary.
Sorry Cindy about your brother.
Here's a pic of Gary and I from back in the seventies.
Growing up we had a great gang of kids back in the neighborhood and Gary was a big part of it.
God be with you.
Kindest thoughts, Pete Minetola

The two things I have admired the most about Gary is his sense of humor and how much he worked hard to take care of his mother. I loved his sense of humor. I still remember once in a meeting a few of my team members got talking about random things and Gary expressed a desire to join the FBI. His one-liners have always left me happy and thinking. To this day, I still wonder what about FBI really intrigued him. He was kind and warm. I never felt I had to know him long enough to have a warm conversation with him. He was full of life and I miss him. less

The first year, he got me a Sphinx statue which I still have in my office and I always think of Gary's sense of humor when I see it. The second year, Gary got me a "pet bat" which was a small plastic bat that fluttered back and forth if you wound it up. For good measure, Gary hung it on a banana hanger to make sure I kept it in line. He was truly hilarious and nothing made work more fun than to goof around with Gary in the office or during work trips. Gary was humble, hardworking, and loved celebrating the success of others and making each of us feel special. less

It was always a pleasure to run into Gary once I moved to a different building as he always had a way of making you smile. One of my favorite memories is searching the 2nd floor at Building D to find Gary's cube. There was no name plate at the end of the row but Gary was at the back near a window and he always told me that was the way he liked it - no name plate. I took that with me in several of my moves (incognito). What I wouldn't give now to be able to walk down the hall and have a laugh with some of my best coworkers like Gary was. Several have mentioned how selfless he was as a caring son to his mother. Gary was a model for unconditional love that we all could admire and learn from. less

He was so direct that it would make me laugh so much. He was so devoted to his mother. I was so touched by how he dedicated his life to her care. He would bring her to the Greek festival every year and I always enjoyed spending time with them. I admired how handy he was--he could build anything! I would ask him "what did you do this weekend" and he would say "renovated a kitchen," like that was just what people do! He was incredibly supportive of his friends and could always be counted on to give you an honest, but fair opinion. He was very loved by his FedEx family and will be missed.
Much love and many condolences to his family and friends. less
