After a harrowing battle with Parkinson's Disease and Essential Thrombocythemia, George passed peacefully in Woodland Hills, CA on May 8th, 2021.
George was born August 26th, 1945 to Sam and Dorothy Brown in Santa Monica, CA. George's 6 siblings always enjoyed sharing stories during family gatherings of George's antics as a young boy. As a teenager, George enjoyed building and flying model airplanes with his close friend Jim Ayers. In addition to his love of model airplanes, George appreciated drag cars and would attend the Lions Drag Strip with Ron McElroy and Ron Workman. George graduated from Santa Monica High School ’64 and went on to graduate from CSUN with a degree in Business Administration. This led to a 40 year career in the banking industry, serving as VP for the trust department at Security Pacific, Bank of America and BNY Mellon. George was a classic car enthusiast, lover of fishing, bowling and a passionate collector of bronze sculptures, Dickens Village and midwest oil paintings. George was often found behind the lens at the large Brown family gatherings, capturing years worth of family memories. He spent hours, months and years gathering generations worth of documentation and photos of our family's ancestors resulting in a family tree with 7,785 family members.
George is survived by his wife Piper, daughter Crystal (Daniel), granddaughter Iris, 6 siblings: Patty, Bitsy, Courtney, Margaret, Norman, Penny and 180+ extended family members. George is preceded in death by half-brother Samuel Courtney Brown Jr., half-sister Phyllis Russo and his parents Sam and Dorothy.
George’s family wishes to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Ron and Patty Workman, his caregivers and quaranteam from late 2019-2021.
