Gregory J. Wood, "Greg", age 56, died peacefully on June 23, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA.
He is the beloved son of Col. Richard, USAF (Ret.) and Pearl Wood of Naples, FL, beloved father of Grace and Jake Wood of Los Angeles, CA, dear brother of Kimberly Lanzoni of Boston, MA. Greg was born in Glendale, Arizona, at Luke Air Force Base hospital, where his father was stationed. They moved to Sloatsburg, NY until he was 8 years old and then settled in Downingtown, PA where he grew up. He attended Bishop Shanahan High School. Greg was a talented musician and songwriter, who loved music and played both piano and guitar. He also enjoyed reading, wrestling and the outdoors, including fishing and canoeing.
He attended his father's alma mater, Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, where he pursued a music degree. He later moved to New York City, played in bands there and worked at SIR and Yamaha. Greg met his former wife, Erin, while living in NYC and they married in Pennsylvania. They lived in NYC and had two beautiful children, Grace and Jake. They soon settled permanently in Los Angeles, where Erin grew up. Greg was an avid reader and appreciated and loved the Arts, giving this gift to his beloved children. He was a wood refinisher specializing in polyester and lacquer finishes on high-end pianos. In Los Angeles, he worked as an independent contractor refinishing high-end pianos and was also an avocational musician. Greg was a kind soul; loved by family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved children Grace and Jake Wood, his loving parents Col. Richard USAF (Ret.) and Pearl Wood, sister Kimberly (Wood) Lanzoni and brother-in-law Steve Lanzoni, his two nieces Haley and Ashley Lanzoni and former wife Erin O'Leary-Wood.
A Funeral Memorial Mass will be held on:

CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION
920 1st Street, Peekskill, New York.
After the memorial mass, we will proceed to Cortlandt, NY, 2.5 miles away to
Assumption Cemetery
1055 Oregon Road, Cortlandt, New York
Another memorial service will take place at a later date in Los Angeles, CA.
