Greg was a bright light in life to all he encountered. He was born in Northridge, CA and was brought up in the San Fernando area with his parents, Bill and Barbara Hicks, brother, Jeff, and sister, Leann. As he grew into adulthood, his life was later enhanced through his first marriage and by the birth of his son, Austin, then followed by his second marriage and later learning of his daughter, Michelle Cehn. He was a fun-loving uncle and adored by his nieces and nephews, Denielle, Jacquelyn, Nikki, Christopher, William, and great-niece, Kira.
His family was extended even further when his first wife, Venita remarried; Greg became a dear friend to her new family, as well as to his second wife, Emily.
He spent his time as a greatly devoted, proud, and fun-loving dad to Austin, participating with him throughout his child and adulthood in his education, sports while coaching, scouts and other endless activities, while embracing his extended pool of family friends as Uncle Gregor!
Greg had the joy and excitement of meeting his daughter, Michelle, over a year ago. She was adopted at birth unknown to Greg and spent years searching for her “birth Father and Mother.” They shared an immediate soulful connection, and in the quintessential Gregor spirit, he fully embraced her as her B’pa. Michelle and her husband, Dan, are expecting their first child in January and Greg was beyond excited to become “G’pa.”
Greg was an eternal optimist, ambitious, and encouraging to all he met. He was an amazing person with endless attributes as a tireless hard worker, a “Gregor of all trades”, high on energy and positivity while going out-of-his-way for others greeting them with a big smile, warm hug and as a servant of Christ. He was an entrepreneur at heart since his teens, involved in many various ventures while working multiple businesses and helping to educate, empower, and inspire others.
He was loved by so many because of his innate ability to warm up to others until he became an extended part of their family and friends with so many that turned life-long. He experienced more adventures than most do in a life-time with his exhilarating spirit and broad family of friends. His life was so full of love amongst them and their journeys together.
He had a remarkable talent to keep in close touch with his family and friends through the years and will be loved, missed, and eternally remembered by all with the imprint he planted and sprinkled upon us!
We are filled with loving gratitude to have been blessed in life to be his family….
