Jackie (Jacqueline) Uhm, 54, passed away in October 28, 2020 in Bayreuth, Germany.
Jackie was born on November 15, 1965 in Clayton, MO to Dr. Do Sung Uhm and Mrs. Eun Sook Uhm.
Jackie attended Soos Creek Elementary, Meridian Junior High School, and Kentridge High School in Kent, WA and received a BS in Ceramic Engineering from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Washington in 1989. While at the University of Washington, Jackie joined the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and was a member of the pledge class of 1984. Jackie earned her MSc degree in 1994 with emphasis in polymers from the Materials Department at the University of California Santa Barbara.
In 1996, Jackie married Dr. Reiner Giesa and moved to Bayreuth, Germany. Fom 1997 and 2000, she worked in the Mechanical Testing and Thermal Labs under the Department of Metallic Materials at the University of Bayreuth. In 2001, Jackie joined the Department of Polymer Engineering as a research technical staff, initially in the area of Thermal Analysis and later in the rheology lab.
Jackie is survived by her parents, brothers Louis (wife Hayley, son Max), and Daniel (wife Doni, son Marcus), twin sister Caroline (husband Frank Worsham), daughter Sylvia, aunt In Sook Hwang, uncle Sun Il Hwang, and many friends, colleagues, and relatives too numerous to list but not forgotten.
She will be extremely missed by all who knew and loved her.
