I say enveloped because they did not just include me, they sat one on each side, leaning in with their arms around my shoulders as if I were sheltered. We were asked to sit in small groups to share in taking communion, but I was fairly new to this church and very singly alone. It's a raw feeling to be alone sitting among people. I saw them take one look at each other then rise to make their way over to where I was sitting. I felt like weeping. As we took our "wine" (juice to Protestants, wine to those not), Nick looked long and hard at the tiny plastic cup in his large hand, meditating, then quietly said, "Ya know, every time I look at this I think about how there's not enough sin in the world that one drop of this (representing Jesus' blood) won't cover it." Nothing could be more true than Nick's words that day. As all of you know, Nick and Charlyn are beautiful servants. On the occasions where their family had come to help me with something going at my house, whether it be overflowing gutters or a fat raccoon in my attic, Nick would write a note in my guest book. On Saturday, November 21st, Nick and Charlyn came to deal with a critter trap for the attic. While Charlyn and I were outside, Nick was inside sneaking into the cookies and writing a note in the guest book. On the left hand side he wrote, "Of all said words of tongue or pen - the saddest are - it should have been." On the right hand side Nick wrote in large capital letters taking up the whole page, "NEW LIFE." And that's exactly what he's doing now - living a new life with the Lord and waiting for everyone to join him. less

Nick showed every fruit of the spirit and I could see His light every time he walked into a room. I’ll always remember the time that we worked together at the hospital and how encouraging he was to both his patients and coworkers. Love you both so much and can’t wait to see you again. less
