James Peter Hynds, age 57, of Dallas Texas, passed away Easter morning April 17, 2022, unexpectedly from natural causes.
James was born on May 15, 1964, to Thomas Hynds Jr. and Katherine (Brogan) Hynds in Evanston, IL, the youngest of five brothers. He was known as Jamie in childhood and Jim in adulthood. After Jim graduated from Fremd High School in Palatine, IL in 1982, he attended Illinois State University. In the early 1990's Jim moved with his mother to Grapevine, Texas to care for his ailing brother Tom.
Jim was a social, bright, and creative person with interests in music and film. Jim also had a strong interest in bible studies and theology. He was a dedicated member of the Embrace United Church of Christ in Richland Hills. Jim had a big heart and loved spending time with people. He took care of his mother during her final years, visiting her daily while she was living at a local nursing home. Jim often spent hours with the other elderly residents listening to their stories of lives well lived.
Jim had a keen ability for witty and side-splitting wordplay that always made dinner time banter lighthearted and joyful. He will be remembered for his bright smile, curiosity, incredible memory, and open heartedness. Jim will be dearly missed.
Jim is survived by his brothers John Hynds & wife Kathy; David Hynds & wife Kathleen Ballew; Paul Hynds & wife Laura, nieces and nephews Heather Truffer & husband Tom; Jennifer Hynds & husband Brigg Barsness; Cecil Hynds-Riddle and partner David Butler; Daisy Valle & husband Ivan; Dylan Hynds; Polly Hynds-Riddle & partner Lauren Braman; Sarah Hynds; and Julie Hynds, and great-nieces Elise Barsness and Ella Valle and great-nefew Calvin Truffer. He was preceded in death by eldest brother, Thomas Joseph Hynds III, mother Katherine Hynds, and Father Thomas Hynds Jr.
A graveside memorial will be held on June 4, 2022, 10:30am at Grapevine Cemetery, followed by a private luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim Hynds may be directed to Equality Texas.
