Collecting your stories, memories and kind words here will offer us great comfort. Thank you for contributing to this lasting memorial. With all our love, Jane (Jeremy's wife), Tamera (daughter), Maya (granddaughter), Ben (son), Mira (daughter-in-law) and Lucas (grandson)
Where to begin? Jeremy was a wonderful husband, father and of late a grandpa. He was married to Jane for 51 years. Their wedding date was also Jeremy's birthday 24th August 1968. They were married in Farnham, Surrey where Jeremy spent much of his youth. Jeremy still owns flats next door to his family home in Farnham. He loved the flats because they reminded him of his grandpa who he adored.
Jane and Jeremy settled in Derby for the beginning of their married life where Jeremy spent a long and enjoyable career with Rolls Royce retiring in his late 50s. He was a member of a range of clubs during his 77 years - Round Table, 41 Club, Probus and Olda. He really enjoyed being part of these. One of the highlights was a soap box Derby with the Round Table - both Ben, Tamera and Jane can remember him careering down a hill in JR's stetson (Dallas for those of you who remember!) - I think they had a nasty tumble at the end!
He loved Jazz and listening to it, along with Radio 4 and could turn his hand to anything DIY.
In April 2010, son, Ben married Mira in Jakarta Indonesia and they travelled there with a number of family members for the wedding. They had a wonderful time and were able to visit Bali and also Malaysia where both Dad and his brother, Mark, were able to revisit some childhood haunts there - they found it to be greatly changed, but enjoyed their trip. They were accompanied by Jane, and Mark's late wife Anne.
Ben and Mira had Jeremy and Janes's first grandchild Lucas in November 2011 and Tamera had grandaughter Maya in 2013. Maya's first years were spent living with Granny and Grandpa - it was crowded, but it was a wonderful warm start to Maya's life and Maya has benefited immensely, as has Lucas, from Grandpa's warmth, sense of play, fun and love.
Jeremy's impact came in his kindness, he always saw the good in everyone and he could never understand why anyone 'hated' anyone.
He was tragically taken from us after a relatively short period of ill health and will be so missed. We cannot believe he is gone.
He leaves behind a two sisters, Alethea and Therese (Terry) and brother, Mark as well as five nephews, Alistair, Chris, Pete, Tim and Alan.
Jane and all the family would like to invite you to make comments and leave stories, thoughts, words and pictures.
