OBITUARY
Jerry was an amazing Father, Husband, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He was loved by many and he will be greatly missed by many. I found a quote on my Dad's Facebook page from September 2018- I wanted to share this with everyone. "Tell someone in a day you love them, Always when done talking to family on the phone tell them you love them, Tell a good friend you love them, In a course of a day try to make someone smile... see more

"Tell someone in a day you love them, Always when done talking to family on the phone tell them you love them, Tell a good friend you love them, In a course of a day try to make someone smile instead of frown. Better yet make someone laugh. Try to be polite with people, help those that you can that need help. A good thing that I learned from my son Jimmy Scritchfield is try to surround yourself with positive people instead of negative people. I hope everyone out there who are my friends and family have a better day tomorrow that what you had today. I love you."

I grew up in Colorado and it wasn't until I met him after Bob married my mom, that I even went climbing or had any exposure to the idea. I can say he was the one who also got me started drinking coffee, as I never had any taste for it before we went climbing. He had asked if I like coffee, so I said "dunno, never drank it." So we stopped in a coffee shop, and he orders 2 large lattes, extra shots for each, and waits. I was so excited, I get to try one of these great coffees he was raving about, and it smelled so good. So they handed him the coffee he had ordered, he turns around with a big grin on his face, then said "these are mine." and he walked away. I stood there awkwardly and told the guy, "I'll get another one of those." 😅 less

This lady walked by with an expensive looking camera, taking nature shots. True to form, Jerry starts a conversation with her. He was newly getting into cameras and they discussed cameras and beautiful scenery for probably an hour. By this time, another party had already shown up and started the climb we were there for :-) In the end, she took this candid of him before moving on.
I love this picture because his smile says it all. He was always happy sharing life with other people in the great outdoors. less
