Joan Lorraine (Fourmont) Jones, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at home with her family by her side. 

Joan was born in Seattle, WA on July 28, 1928 daughter to Laurence and Charlotte Fourmont. As a Marine family Joan grew up in a several places including Ballard and Coronado Island where she spent her days exploring the beautiful San Diego.

From a young age her mother instilled her exceptional sewing skills upon Joan, a trait she passed through generations all the way to her great granddaughters. 

Shortly after graduating from Ballard High School Joan returned for art classes where she met a handsome young sailor, Donald Jones, who had just come home from the War. They dated for a short period of time before marrying on April 2, 1949. Together they raised three children: Cynthia, Laurence, and Jennifer in Edmonds, WA. The family spent their winters skiing at Sahalie Ski Club at Snoqualmie Pass and their summers at their beach cabin in Freeland on Whidbey Island. Don and Joan were married 36 years until his death in 1985. 

After the passing of her loving husband, she moved to Whidbey Island in 1990 where she became involved in Langley C&MA church with her daughter and her daughter's family and other community activities. Joan devoted her life to reading, art, music, and her family. She also had a passion for traveling, she was able to see some of the world’s most beautiful places and loved to tell the stories of these places. She loved to spend her days reading every book that she could, often saying "You'll never have a bad day if you have a story to get lost in." 

Preceded in death by husband Donald Jones and granddaughter Deborah Indell. 

Survived by her children Cynthia (Michael) Stanley, Laurence Jones and Jennifer (John) Potter; grandchildren Scott Stanley, Jodi (Jon) Saunders, Mathew Stanley, Hailey Potter, Danielle Potter and great-grandchildren Braedynn Saunders, Lorelai Indell and Joslyn Indell. She also leaves behind her dear friends with whom she played cards with every Wednesday.

Her favorite charities included the CMA Soup Kitchen where she volunteered for many years, as well as Seattle Children's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to be made to Seattle Children's Hospital in Seattle.
