John is my nephew. I've known him throughout his life as Johnny, Johnson, John Jr, Little John, and most recently just as John. John lived with me and my wife, Tonie, for the last 9 months of his life, after adventuring for several months in Thailand. He only planned to stay with us 3 or 4 months while he was working to build up savings so he could take off on his next adventure. He was considering Cuba, or maybe Mexico. But then Covid-19 hit, and nobody was going anywhere. Unfortunately, John then developed an infection in has abdomen, and it crossed over through several organs. Doctors did what they could, but ultimately John's organs failed, and he died on September 19, 2020.
John was an only child, and his parents both predeceased him. He lived in Spokane when he was a young child, then moved with his mother when he was a teenager. He returned to Spokane as a young adult, eager to spend time with his dad (my brother John) and reconnect with friends and family he knew while growing up. John loved to talk about his memories of growing up in Spokane and especially about "Old Barnie", my parents' house where John spent so many years of his childhood.
We'll miss you John. You left us too soon.
