Joyce Annette Hawk Williams passed away peacefully on April 13, 2019 in her Lake Havasu, Arizona home. She was born April 4, 1940 to Mary Ford and Artless Hawk Jr. and was raised in Port Huron Michigan where she graduated from Port Huron High School and Port Huron Community College as a Registered Nurse. She continued her education at Michigan State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
After her graduation from MSU she relocated to Los Angeles, California and continued her education at the University of California, Los Angeles where she received a masters degree in Public Health with emphasis in Community Health. She worked over 40 years as a registered nurse and assisted in establishing the Sickle Cell screening program at Martin Luther king hospital in Los Angeles CA. Joyce retired as a professor of nursing from Southwest Community College in 2007
She also enjoyed traveling and worked as a registered nurse overseas for a year. Some of her travels included but were not limited to Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, France, and England, and many other locations. Besides traveling, her other interests include, boating, fishing, and reading.
Joyce is survived by four siblings, four daughters, nine grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life is tentatively planned for July 20th.
