A Compassionate, Content and an Epitome of Generosity.
Born in Arasamangalam village in Villupuram (Vizhuppuram) District on December 22, 1937, youngest of 5 siblings, he pursued his passion for Engineering and attained a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. With his hard work and perseverance, he secured a job in Indian Railways with most of his postings in Northern India and eventually retiring from RDSO, Ministry of Railways, New Delhi in 1995.
Being liberal minded and strong-willed, he married the woman he loved, Suguna with whom he spent a memorable 57 years of marriage. Together they raised 2 children with love, affection and discipline. Known for his friendly demeanor and readiness to help anyone in need, his Simla, Lucknow, New Delhi, Chennai and Kancheepuram days are a testament to the numerous strong friendships he developed with many people.
A natural organizer and a meticulous planner with an adventurous attitude, he utilized the perks of the Railways to explore every nook and corner of India. He also planned and organized group tours to visit holy places and tourist destinations for and with other people too. His trips to remote temples in Tamil Nadu during Vaikuntha Ekadasi each year was something everyone looked forward to. With the same curiosity and interest, he traveled globally across Asia, Europe and North America.
His tours to New York City, Pennsylvania and other historical cities in the United States, made him a popular tour guide for many visiting families, especially parents. He had the Subway routes, maps & facts on his tips and explored the city extensively.
With a passion for teaching people of all ages, he ran Tamil language classes for children in Lucknow, Vishnusahasranamam classes for kids in Rail Nagar and also taught Math lessons to kids in Canada. His patience and ability to engage little children made him very popular among kids everywhere and his 4 grandchildren were lucky to learn many things from him. His riddles, jokes and general knowledge trivia were a source of entertainment during his visits as well as on Zoom meetings in the past 2 years.
A man of many interests, he loved listening to Carnatic music and collecting stamps, coins and maps. He had a passion for technology/gadgets, interest in news/stock markets/investments and a love for morning exercise and evening walks. He was always trusted in leadership roles for his ability to manage conflicts and get work done leading to being elected as President of Flat/House Owners Association numerous times including the current term at Kshetra, Kancheepuram.
With high morals, astute financial planning, a dutiful and a self-discipline he accomplished a lot on his own. He has been humble and very generous in supporting a lot of charities, youth/families in need and donating to many poor temples.
Let us celebrate his life and remember him as a devoted son, supportive sibling, caring husband, loving father, doting grandfather, an affectionate uncle, a patriotic citizen and a great Friend for everyone.
