Kathleen's Obituary
On August 15, 2020, Kathleen (Freihaut) Castoro passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was 68 years old.
Despite her failing health, few people knew the extent of her struggles. Her joy for life and unrelenting spirit always seemed to shine through.
Kathy was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and worked tirelessly, filling the role of both mother and father providing them every opportunity. She reveled in her role as Grammy and would proudly boast about her granddaughter Everly any chance she got. She was a true animal lover, a vegan for many years and the proud mother of her fur babies Dexter and Lucy. Kathy made friends everywhere she went and frequently became a mother figure to people who started as strangers.
A lifelong New Jersey native Kathy grew up in Hamliton New Jersey graduating from Steinert Highschool in 1969. She graduated with her Bachelors degree from Rider University in 1989 and received her MBA from Farleigh Dickinson University in 2003. Kathy had great passion for her work. She worked in government pricing for years for many pharmaceutical and consulting companies.
Kathy is the loving and devoted mother to Kelly Bruno and Stacy Dempsey and adored Grammy to her granddaughter Everly Bruno and mother in law to Chris Bruno. She is also lovingly survived by, her brother Jake and wife Michelle Freihaut and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was also the cherished wife of Saverio Castoro, step mother to Stephen Castoro, Liz Harish and Alison Dellinger, daughter in law to Bea Castoro and sister in law to Maryann and husband Robert Kosiorek
A celebration of life and the scattering of her ashes will be held at a future date.
