Keifer found his peace on February 26, 2020. Born on November 15, 1989 in Kirkland, WA, he moved to Boise as a toddler, graduating from Boise High School in 2008. His adventurous and artistic free spirit moved him between Seattle, Vashon Island, Boise and McCall since graduation. He studied at Seattle Central Community College, Boise State University and Cornish College of the Arts.
He was a brilliant, loving and caring soul who made friends everywhere he went. Ever since he could walk and talk he would tell me "Mom, I made a new friend" - this was true as recently as a few months ago. The lives he touched are too numerous to count - he truly left his mark on everyone he met. Keifer was an accomplished artist, designer, musician and builder. He recently made his acting debut here in McCall. Keifer was loving and genuine, bringing out the best in everyone he touched. Keifer adored children, animals, nature and people. He loved being outdoors, skating, hiking, skiing, surfing, boating – he took advantage of being in nature anytime, anywhere. He loved camping and playing his guitar around the fire was a favorite pastime.
True to his giving and caring nature, Keifer was an organ donor. His selfless sacrifice saved four lives, giving a most precious gift to those people and their families.
Keifer is survived by a large and loving family including his parents, Tammy & Jeff Hannel (McCall) and Patrick Roark (Vashon), siblings Griffin Roark (Boise), Matthew Hannel, Ashley Shaw and Destiny Hannel (IL), grandmothers Helen Spaulding (McCall) and Jackie Heal (CA). Aunts/Uncles Janet & Larry Lord and Pam & Larry Wehr (McCall), Dan & Mary Spaulding and John Spaulding (Council), Mike & Pam Roark, Bob Roark and Julie Roark-Schnaidt (CA), plus dozens of cousins. He was preceded in death by his namesake grandfathers W. Keith Spaulding and Danial Charles Roark. There are too many loved ones to mention them all, but they meant so much to Keifer.
A Memorial Celebration of Keifer’s Life, hosted by his family, will be held on March 12th at North Fork Lodge (McCall, Idaho RV Resort) from 1-3pm.
A Celebration of Life, hosted by Keifer's friends, will be held in Boise on April 10th.
Since Keifer took his own life, in lieu of flowers or other gifts his family requests donations to SpeedyFoundation.org so others managing their mental health have easier access to the help that they need.
His love of animals - and their love for him - was evident always! He adopted Taz, ODB and Pearl from Idaho Humane Society (Boise). He also worked at and helped me find Onyx at McPaws (McCall). Keifer would appreciate support of these organizations if you'd prefer.
