On Thursday, March 26, 2020, at 9:25 am, Lamberto D. Aquino peacefully passed away in Cerritos, California at the age of 77 years old.
Lamberto was born in La Paz, Tarlac, Philippines on April 16, 1942, to Felix B. Aquino and Catalina Dino. He went to La Paz Elementary and Great Eastern Institute in La Paz, Tarlac, Philippines. He graduated from Lyceum of the Philippines in Manila, Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration in 1969.
In a Baptismal party in Manila, he met Erlinda Picar Vitto, a secretary for Philippine Airlines. And after two years of courting, they married on January 29, 1966, at the Sacred Heart Parish Church in Quezon City, Philippines. They were married for 54 loving years and had two beautiful daughters, Marie and Jennifer. In 1970, the family migrated to Los Angeles, California.
Lamberto worked at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) at Parker Center, in Los Angeles, California for 34 years serving as Senior Detention Officer in the Jail Division. He also worked part-time as a Code Enforcer with the city of Buena Park, California and part-time as a Security Guard for Chateau Marmont, Hollywood, California earlier in his career. He also served as 2nd Lieutenant with the Philippine Air Force.
Lamberto was a devoted husband, father, friend, and mentor to many. He enjoyed cooking, traveling to Las Vegas and Kauai and different countries, going to the shooting range, collecting coins, playing the slot machines at the casinos, watching sports, listening to his Kundiman songs, and spending time with his family. But he enjoyed being socially connected and helping his relatives, and friends. He was also a spiritual man and praying, reading the Bible with his family and attending Sunday services.
Lamberto is survived by his wife Erlinda V. Aquino; his daughters, Marie V. Aquino and Jennifer Aquino Shiotani; his son-in-law, Kipp S. Shiotani and granddaughter, Sydney Kohana Aquino Shiotani; his cousins, Rizal A. Asuncion, Loreto A. Asuncion, Sonia A. Bennie, Filomena A. Villanueva, and Belen Quintos; his nephews and nieces, Regina S. Verona, Angelito A. Santos, Priscilla S. Labrador, Teresita S. Mauceri, Nimfa A. Santos, Raphael A. Santos, Ferdinand A. Santos, Luzminda A. Estinopo, Rosalinda A. Provido, Alexander D. Aquino, Imelda A. Tambagan, Carmencita A. Filipinas, Servillano D. Aquino, Amelita S. Ramirez, Edmon Aquino, Emmanuel Aquino, Edgardo Aquino, Emma Aquino, Emilyn Aquino, Rodrigo A. Serrano, Rowena S. Martinez, and Romano A. Serrano.
Lamberto is predeceased by his parents, Felix Bayran Aquino and Catalina Dino Aquino; his siblings, Natividad A. Santos, Aurelio D. Aquino, Perpetua A. Santana, Montano D. Aquino, Amado D. Aquino, and Severina A. Serrano.
He was buried at Forest Lawn in Cypress, California on Friday, April 3, 2020, at 9:45 am. Due to the current global situation, no one was allowed to attend his burial but a "Celebration of Life Memorial" service will be scheduled in the nearer future once the COVID 19 laws are lifted.
