Catania, Lawrence P.— Lawrence fell asleep in death on December 28, 2020 at the age of 82 years. Born in Springfield MA on January 4, 1938 to John and Anna (Bara) Catania, he is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Dorothy Catania (Vidoli). Larry is lovingly remembered by his brothers Charles Catania, Norwich CT and Joseph Catania, Agawam MA; sister Carmella Ziemba, South Hadley MA; nephews Walter John Ziemba, Southampton MA, Paul Ziemba, Belchertown MA, Curtis Ziemba, Tucson AZ, David Ziemba, Danville IN, John Catania, Agawam MA, Jeremy Catania, Marietta GA; nieces Joyce Catania, Lisbon CT and Julie-Anna Pizighelli, Bridgeport CT, as well as their respective spouses and children.

From a young age Lawrence enjoyed studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. At the age of 17, he made a personal dedication to be one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and symbolized this dedication by water baptism on July 23^rd, 1955. Subsequently, Lawrence graduated from Agawam High School in 1956.  Larry received training in typewriter repair and went to truck driving school where he received his CDL. Most recently Larry was a member of the East Westfield Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Westfield MA.

While Larry did not have children of his own, he loved his dogs Corky and Shane. He also enjoyed music and played both the drums and the banjo-guitar. He spoke often of how he looked forward to the Paradise on Earth that is promised in the bible and enjoying the animals and music with the worldwide brotherhood.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the employees of Governor’s Center of Westfield who cared for Larry during his final days.

A memorial will be held in his memory on January 16th at 2 PM via an online Zoom Video Meeting. A direct link to the meeting as well as the meeting ID and password are located below. Additional instructions for those new to Zoom are also provided below. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early for association. A slide presentation will be shown both before and after the service with the program starting at 2 PM.
