We were touched by all of the heartwarming memories that the speaker's shared & all of the wonderful chat comments left for us to read. We know Leanne would have been proud of how she was memorized, even though we couldn't be together physically, we were together virtually and mentally. A recording of Leanne's Celebration of Life event will be posted soon. Please check back here for details. Leanne was full of passion, full of love, full of selfless generosity, she rose above the occasion about giving back to the community, and was an advocate for so many specific causes. She would want her loved ones to remember her for this passion and to carry this on, in her honor. Please consider making a donation gift in Leanne's honor to the following organizations: 1.) San Antonio Humane Society: https://sahumane.org/covid-19 Please consider making a donation to our San Antonio Humane Society Emergency Fund to assist with the care of our animals and staff – we need your help now more than ever. 2.) American Foundation for Suicide Prevention: Walk to fight suicide. https://afsp.org/ Walkers like us make a difference. Together we can change the conversation about mental health and put a stop to this tragic loss of life. 3.) The Rape Crisis Center for Children and Adults https://rapecrisis.com/donate/ All dollars advance our mission, and the more support we have, the more impact we can make. Help us create a safe, healthy, more equitable San Antonio. Thank you, Roland & Jo Ann Martinez

On July 5th, 2020, our bright shining star returned to the heaven’s to be with our Lord at the young age of 34. Leanne Marie Martinez will be greatly missed by her Mommie and Papi Roland and Jo Ann Martinez, her grandparents Joe and Gloria (Yoya) Ruiz, Angelita & (Frank deceased) Martinez, several aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and countless number of friends and acquaintances.
Leanne dedicated her life to serving our community and led by example. She served as the San Antonio City Director of Lesbians who Tech, where she assisted in creating a platform for women who shared a passion for technology. She also served on Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) board, co-chaired the Pride employee resource group at Rackspace, served on the H.E.B. Diversity Leader Council and also participated in Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Leanne proudly represented people from all walks of life and was unwavering in her beliefs.
One of Leanne’s passions was being behind the camera. She was an avid photographer and sold some of her photographs, but kept most of them for reflection and appreciation of all the beauty that nature provides. Leanne also loved to travel. She loved to discover different cities, cultures, and sceneries. She visited many cities, but one of her favorite cities that she discovered in the last two years was Mexico City, where she fell in love with the architecture, food and culture. She went twice and was eager to go back with her parents. Another passion was being a great supporter and comforter to friends and family. If you were Leanne’s friend, you knew what a true and genuine friend you had! She was a gem of a friend!
Although our ray of sunshine is no longer here with us physically, her memory will live in our hearts and her spirit will continue to shine brightly. In her own words, “Always look for the silver lining”!
