William Lee Stoumbaugh Jr. & Terri Stoumbaugh
1952-2021; 1955-2021
William Lee Stoumbaugh Jr. passed away on September 28, 2021 following a fight with COVID-19 and the effects of the drugs used to fight COVID. Lee was born on June 22, 1952 to William Lee Stoumbaugh Sr. and Betty Lou Stoumbaugh in Rapid City, South Dakota. Lee graduated from Northglenn High School and the University of Houston Clear Lake where he earned a BS in Engineering Technology. Lee met the love of his life and wife of over 46 years, Theresa (Terri) Stoumbaugh and married her on December 14, 1974, at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston, Texas.
Theresa (Terri) Stoumbaugh preceded her husband in passing on September 24, 2021, in the company of family following a fight with COVID-19 and the effects of the drugs used to fight COVID. Terri was born on February 23, 1955 to Albert and Mable Forster in Port Arthur, Texas. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and briefly attended Lamar University.
After several years of difficulties trying to conceive, Lee and Terri were approached by a fellow church member about a young girl who was going to have a baby soon. Lee and Terri adopted Christie in 1978 and changed her legacy forever. Seven years later, the Lord gave them their first son, Matthew and two years later, Andrew. Lee always liked to joke that Christie was “store bought” and the other two were “homemade.”
Lee worked for decades in the aerospace industry as a NASA contractor. His greatest joys were Jesus, his wife Terri, his family, and baseball. He coached numerous softball and baseball teams throughout the years including this past spring when he coached one of his grandson’s teams. Lee impacted countless lives and left a legacy of faith and steadfastness.
After her children arrived, Terri delighted to stay home with them. Her greatest joys were the love of Jesus, her beloved husband Lee, her children, but perhaps her greatest delight was her 6 grandchildren. Terri appreciated enthusiastic worship services, where she could often be found hand-signing the lyrics to worship songs, scrapbooking, Hallmark movies, Christmas celebrations, family gatherings, traveling, especially to Disney World, and spoiling her grandchildren.
Lee and Terri are survived by their daughter Christie Beth Frodge, son-in-love Curtis Frodge, sons Matthew Lee and Andrew Martin Stoumbaugh, daughter-in-love Andria Stoumbaugh, as well as his beloved grandchildren Brooke, Autumn, Alaynna, Malachi, Brodie, and Lia.
Lee is also survived by his mother Betty Stoumbaugh, sister Mona Vanderbles, brother in law Michael Vanderbles, and nieces Amy Chastain and Megan McMillian, and nephew Christopher Vanderbles. Terri is also survived by her sister Elaine Vicknair, brother Danny Forster, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Our family is most comforted in their passing because of their open and deliberate love for Jesus Christ. Their steadfast faith, which was grounded in their belief that Jesus paid the debt for their sins they could not pay, afforded them a true and tangible relationship with the One who holds all things together. Here on earth we know they were made new spiritually, and we take comfort that from now on, they are completely new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
We hold the memory of our beloved Lee & Terri close in our hearts. Their lifetime of contributions remains indelible and underscores not only their deep and unwavering commitment to God and their family, but we know both their steadfast faith, and Lee’s humor and mischievousness, will no doubtedly carry on.
In lieu of flowers, donations* may be made through PayPal (@StoumbaughFamily) to help the family with medical and funeral expenses. A portion of all contributions will be given back to local foster care and gospel missions serving the Clear Lake area.
