(07 Dec 2020) MEMORIAL SERVICE:
After much discussion with family and friends, we have decided to go ahead with a celebration of Lee Ann's life sooner rather than later. It will be held at 10am, Saturday 19 December, at First Baptist Church of Richardson, 1001 North Central Expressway. Mask wearing and social distancing is required at all times, for everyone's safety.
However, if for whatever reason you do not feel comfortable gathering during these tough times of COVID-19, or cannot abide by the mask/distancing precautions, please do not attend. I promise you Lee Ann would say the same thing, and likely more strongly than I have done here! Pictures and a program will be posted after the service.
(06 Dec 2020) Lee Ann's faithful companion Madison has a new home! Thank you everyone for the interest and help in this effort! She has a new loving family just a couple of miles from where she used to live, with a big back yard and a new live-in doggie buddy.
(26 Nov 2020) OBITUARY:
Lee Ann Hodo of Plano passed away on November 20, 2020, at age 65. Born in Paris TX to and preceded in death by John and Libby Hodo, she was big sister to Don Hodo and spouse Susan, and loving Aunt Leah to Ellis and Rachel, all of San Diego CA. She is also survived by her cousin Karen Devault of Bullard TX, and too many loving friends to list.
A lifelong North Texas resident, she attended Baylor University and ultimately found her calling as an animal advocate and Veterinary Office Manager. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Richardson, and enjoyed watching deer and other animal friends at her lakeside get-away.
In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in Lee Ann’s Memory, else a donation to the Humane Society of the United States, the First Baptist Church of Richardson, or Bridge Builders International which supports ministry in her adopted second country of Latvia.
Services are pending, but will be shared at https://www.gatheringus.com/memorial/lee-ann-hodo/5871
(24 Nov 2020) Dear Friends: We unexpectedly lost Lee Ann the night of 20 November, 2020. Per her request she will be cremated with no viewing, and have her ashes placed at the east Texas lake property she loved so much. I spoke with her surgeon and her personal physician, and they both advised me her recent surgery was considered high risk due to her underlying heart condition, and most likely passed due to heart failure; no autopsy is planned. As one doctor described it, “She fought off the west Nile virus years ago, but it ultimately caught up with her.” The good news is she had several good weeks of peace, comfort and easy breathing post surgery, or as she herself said "I feel better than I have in years!"
We are tentatively planning a celebration of her life in mid-December, most likely at her church in Richardson. I’ll be in touch once plans are firmed up. Our thanks to the overwhelming expressions of love and concern, and for the offers of help. In lieu of food or flowers, consider planting a tree or flowers in Lee Ann’s memory. If you wish to do something more tangible, consider a donation to your local animal shelter, the Humane Society of the United States, or Bridge Builders International which supports ministries in her beloved Latvia.
However, the best gift we could collectively give Lee Ann would be to quickly find a loving home for her long-time canine companion Madison. This is doubly needed as Madison not only lost her beloved master, but also recently lost her live-in dog brother Spencer. I respectively ask you open your hearts and contact lists to help us achieve this goal. Madison is female, a friendly 10 year old mixed rescue, 35 lbs, with all shots current.
Feel free to share this website with any friends I may have missed. Thank you, and God Bless - - Don Hodo (24 Nov 2020)
