Lee Shapiro was born in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn on February 25, 1939 to Sylvia and Arthur Shapiro. Growing up blocks from the beach in a beautiful neighborhood, Lee fondly spoke of his upbringing in Manhattan Beach and developed life-long friends from grade school who he always enjoyed keeping in touch with. After high school, Lee went to college at Florida Southern and was a member of TEP. Lee then proudly served in the National Guard. Following his service, he started his adult life in New York. His love for "shooting the breeze" with people led him to a career in sales. After a blind date in the early 1970's Lee life changed when he met and fell in love with Susan Ravdin. Quickly going from a single man to the the only man in a house with 4 women Lee adored his new life. The family grew and Lee became Poppa Lee and Mr Lee to 8 grandchildren and 4 Grand-dogs he loved dearly.
We didn't hesitate to tease him about many things. Playing his latest favorite song over and over, His (terrible) driving, he was always painfully early to things and his love for a sauce Arturo and peanut butter sandwich.
He had many health issues and somehow managed to dodge many bullets. We all were sure he had nine lives and know his positive attitude was a big reason for that.
A man with a big heart he loved and cherished Sue for their marriage of 48 years and beyond, still signing cards with love from Mama Sue and Poppa Lee.
He was very happy in Florida and enjoyed catching up with his many friends he spoke about often.
In the end he often reminded us all he wanted was to rest next to mama sue, may you Rest In Peace Lee now reunited with the love of your life.
