Leonard “Lenny” Brown (92), known for his optimism and good humor, passed peacefully in his home on April 18, 2021 in Mt. Plymouth, FL.
Lenny was born on December 23, 1928 in Binghamton, NY. He spent his childhood in Patterson and Mahwah, NJ before joining the Navy during WWII. Lenny was an honorary life member of the Mahwah Elks Lodge, and he belonged to the American Legion, 40-8, and the Oddfellows. He was a long time employee of Suffern Distributors and Mahwah High School before fulfilling his dream of retiring to Florida in 2001.
Lenny was an avid golfer, card player, and Yankees fan. He loved exploring historical sights, ball parks, and his local neighborhood on Sunday drives.
He is preceded in passing by his wife, Ann E. Brown (2012). He is survived by his loving children Scott Brown (Mt. Helen, FL); Joan Murphy (Mahwah, NJ); and Jeanne Roberts (Eustis, FL), and by his siblings, Kathleen Burger; Jean Lyvers; Robert Brown; Darlene Gazda-Schlette. He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Carrie, Scott, Brian, Christopher, Autumn, Jack, and Peyton. He is also survived by Joanne Glandorf.
A celebration of Lenny’s life will be held on Saturday, September 18, at noon, at the Mahwah Elks Lodge. All are welcome.
