Mrs. Linda L. (Hicks) Burns, age 69, passed away on February 18, 2021 at her home in Shalimar, Florida after a lifelong battle with rheumatoid arthritis and more recently, vascular disease. Our wife, sister, mother, and grandmother was born on Christmas day, 1951, in Baytown, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Oly L. Hicks and Emma Rose (Landry) Hicks. She graduated from La Porte High School in La Porte, Texas in 1971 where she met and charmed her partner for life. In 1975 she was married in La Porte to Thomas A. Burns after his graduation from the USAF Academy. During their AF career, they resided in Colorado, Mississippi, Arizona, Texas, and the Philippine Islands. Linda is survived in Shalimar by her husband and her three children, Clayton T. Burns (Kat), Amanda L. Olabarria, and Dustin L. Burns, as well as her grandchildren, Jamie, Izabella, Ryker, Riddick, Jessie, Zack, Destinee, and Mya. She is also survived by her brother Michael “Pee-wee” Hicks (Colleen) of La Porte and her sister Oline Cherry (Richard) of Orlando, FL. Linda laughed often, made friends easily, and never made a foe. She loved her family unconditionally and spread love and compassion to all who knew her. She made our up times, twice as high and our down times half as low. We miss her so much. Linda will be interred at a later date in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL.
