Lonnie Lee Jones, Jr. was born June 28, 1930 in St. Louis, MO to the late Lonnie Lee Jones, Sr. and Beatrice Hamilton Jones. He was the Eldest of Four children.
After serving his country in The United States Army, Lonnie enjoyed a full and rewarding career with the United States Postal Service for more than 33 yrs.
Anyone who knew and loved Lonnie, knew sitting still in retirement was an unreasonable ask of him. After retiring from USPS, Lonnie shared his bright smile and energetic spirit with several organizations including Hertz Car Rental and the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals.
Lonnie loved watching Baseball, taking long walks & participating in many activities at his church, Cote Brilliante Presbyterian Church, where he was a Trustee and member for 60 yrs.
Earlier in life Lonnie gave back to his community by serving as a Troop Leader with Explorer Boys Scouts, as a Basketball & Baseball coach at his church; and for his son, Leigh's, Little League Baseball team.
Later in life, Lonnie found joy making new friends at Autumn View Assisted Living & Delmar Gardens Long Term Care Communities. On any given day, you might find him avidly working his Search & Find puzzles (which he enjoyed immensely) or sipping on a good cup of hot coffee.
Lonnie was loved by many, and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his Daughter, Cynthia Jones Young; Son, Leigh Hamilton Jones; Grandson, Jaron R. Young (T'shon); Great Grands, Lauren & Landon Young, Special Niece & Caregiver, Carole Trotter, and a whole host of other nieces, nephews and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the
