Loren Allen Furlong was born December 11, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up in Owasso, Michigan and when he was 18, moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue his dream of becoming an airplane pilot. After just a short few years, Loren had already proven to be a natural born aviator, and by his early twenties, became a flight instructor at Santa Monica Flyers in Santa Monica, California. By the time he was 26, Loren had been hired with Continental Airlines as one of the youngest captains for a commercial airline (at the time).
In 1967, Loren met a beautiful young flight attendant named Jill Johnsey, on a flight to Houston. Smitten, he relentlessly pursued her and the two dated for 7 years before tying the knot in 1974. They decided to settle in Huntington Beach, California and had 3 daughters, Kelly, Kimberly, and Kristina. Loren had become an expert pilot by that time and could fly just about any aircraft. His favorite being the 737, 707, DC-10, 747, and shortly the 777, before being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in the early 2000's.
However, Parkinson's would not stop Loren from pursuing his second and third greatest passion(s), model airplanes and classic motorcycles.
