At the age of 43, our Marcus passed away in Round Rock, Texas. From a young boy, Marcus was a happy child, always trying to make others happy and had a genuine great heart, laugh and smile. He appreciated the simple things in life. Marcus also had to endure many heartbreaks throughout his young life, with the loss of his mother, Dolores Bassillio, his father, Edward Sosa and his brother Joseph Perez, Jr. Also, his uncles, Danny and David Bassillio and his grandfather, Andrew Bassillio. Marcus was pretty much raised by his Uncle Rick and his aunt Loretta (aka Tete), who will miss him dearly. Also, his grandma, Angie and his uncle, Andy. Through all of his losses, Marcus stayed strong and proud of who he was and what he wanted to accomplish in life. He went to school in South San Francisco and San Mateo, California. He worked at many jobs and was proud of his accomplishments, especially at San Francisco Honda where he was top salesman for many months in a row. He also was a Real Estate Agent for a time being. Most recently, Marcus decided to give up the money making ways of life and decided to put most of his time and energy into inventing the “BioKeyPer”, a legacy storage device, where people could store their most cherished memories. With the sale of these devices, donations were going to go to different charities, one being the Wounded Warrior Project. Marcus’ last plans were to launch the BioKeyPer within the upcoming months, with his close buddies, Kemet, Fred and a few others. Unfortunately, while in Texas he was tragically struck by a train. His presence will be missed by many and his smile will never be forgotten. He will be cremated and remains will be at home until they can be blessed at St. Francis Assisi Church in San Francisco, at a later date, in a private family ceremony. Marcus liked being carefree, playing instruments, singing, being goofy and enjoyed his family and friends. He liked hanging out by himself in serene, places where he could play his instruments, sing, make videos and live life the way he wanted to. He wished for everyone he met to live life to the fullest and be happy and not take life so seriously. Marcus enjoyed gardening and seeing the beauty in flowers and plants. In Marcus’ memory, we ask that you grow a plant or flower and love and nurture it, like we did with him. Let it grow beautiful and strong and think of Marcus in the many years to come. In lieu of a big funeral, especially due to social distancing, we ask that you donate to the Wounded Warrior Project. With heavy hearts, Uncle Rick and Tete
