He is survived by his family. William "Bill" & Bobbie Lawrence, his parents Gail & George McIlrath, sister and brother-in-law Rick & Azucena "Susan" Lawrence, brother and sister-in-law Don & Angela Lawrence, brother and sister-in-law as well as their respective families and his many friends
Mark was an athlete during his high school years at East High School in Waterloo Iowa. He was very artistically inclined, and even contributed to the art wall at East High School.
He made his way down to Fisher Arkansas where he met and married Gail Yvonne Horst (Lawrence). They married on November 26, 1977, and divorced September 30, 1996.
Hunting, fishing, and generally being outdoors were things Mark enjoyed immensely. He loved to tell the stories of the deer he hunted and the fish he caught. He'd even tell you about the ones that got away.
Mark also had a great sense of humor. He was always giving someone bunny ears in a photo, playing a practical joke on them, or making faces to get a laugh. There was rarely a dull moment around him. Mark will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
There will be no viewing, per his parents request. Instead, there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.

It's doubly sad when they are also a friend. I'm speaking of our classmate and friend Mark Lawrence. I remember meeting Mark back when I was attending Hawthorne Elementary back in 1963. I loved his humor. It wasn't hard to laugh when he was around. He knew how to tell some stories. He always had everyone in stitches. It was like that throughout Junior High and High school too. His Facebook posts over the last several years had me cracking up. He didn't hesitate to use your photo to create something outlandishly hilarious and then post it. It was his way to reach out to all of his friends with that humor that was especially his. We'll miss you man! less
