Max Beiersdorff, 78, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 12, 2022 in his home in DeForest, WI. He was born on May 22, 1943 in Ashland, WI to parents Edwin and Marion (Bagger) Beiersdorff. He had three siblings: Ron, John, and Sandy.
Max graduated from Ashland High School in 1961 and attended University of Wisconsin-Superior where he earned a teaching degree. It was during this time, he met the love of his life, Nancy. They were married on September 2, 1967. Max and Nancy moved to Cumberland, WI in 1968 where they lived for 52 years.
Max began his teaching career in Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District before he moved to the Cumberland School District where he taught for 33 years. He started the Cumberland Girls’ Softball Program and was head coach for many years. He was also the JV coach for the girls’ basketball team. He was a mentor to many and had a great impact on the students he taught and coached.
One of Max’s biggest accomplishments was being a father. His three children, Jim, Mike, and Carrie looked up to their dad as a kind, loving, and selfless father, who always volunteered to help with anything they needed.
Max loved music, cars, hunting, camping, golf, and sports. He was an avid Badger and Packer fan. He had a soft spot for dogs (whom he treated like royalty) and he was an excellent napper in his retirement. He enjoyed completing projects around the house, coin collecting, and model trains. He loved to make jokes and pull pranks and kept everyone on their toes.
Max is survived by his wife, Nancy, and three children: Jim (Susan) Beiersdorff, Mike Beiersdorff, and Carrie (Matt) Moore; his four grandchildren: Miah, Jackson, Brody, and Ava; his sister, Sandy; many nieces and nephews; and his granddog, Archie. He is preceded in death by his brothers Ron and John.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 1:00-4:00 pm at Western Green Park Shelter, 417 Acker Parkway, DeForest, WI 53532.
