She was born on the 5th of June, 1973 to parents Pikai Henry Mabika and Margret Matshaka-Mabika at Ndanga Hospital, Masvingo. She attended Tsungai, Chimatira and Gokomere primary schools and for her secondary education attended Visitation High School. Her caring nature and compassion for others inspired her to train as a nurse at Harare Central Hospital following which she worked at Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo. Her entrepreneurial spirit inspired her to pursue various business ventures which included running a family shop and grocery store in Four Winds, Bulawayo. In her entrepreneurial pursuits Ongai not only displayed sharp business acumen but also served as a mentor to others around. In addition to being an anchor and champion in her family, Ongai’s generous spirit, beaming smile and pleasant personality drew many to her. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ, a step that shaped her whole existence until the day she left to be with her maker. A woman of faith, a powerful intercessor, teacher of the word, her Christian life was as beautiful as flowers and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. One of the final messages she shared was, “keep meditating on his word, resist fear and have faith-Psalms 27 and 91”. She will be deeply missed and her beautiful life will forever be cherished.
We will always carry your memory in our hearts.

Your dazzling welcoming smile and rich laughter, your generous spirit and huge heart, your wisdom and counsel, your steadfastness and strength… You will be deeply missed dear daughter, dangwe rava Tete… Your trademark ‘makadii mhai’ always made me forget I was younger. One of the memories I will cherish the most is when I had my daughter via C-section you would constantly message checking on us and encouraging me to stay mobile to speed up the post-surgery recovery. You sent tips and advice easing the early days for a new mother far from home…I will forever be grateful… The world will be less colourful without you but we will always carry you in our hearts. Rest well.
Eternal peace grant her O’Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. less
