TIMOTHY TEMITOPE OBAYAN 1Th 4:13 - But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. Why should we not sorrow when a beloved depart this world? 1Thess. 4:14 - For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. What is source of our Hope? Col 1:27 - Christ in you (us), (is our hope) the hope of glory. The life of our beloved Pastor Timothy Temitope Obayan who has departed this world to be with Christ is a testimonial of this Scripture. Christ was in him. He served God till he drew his last breathe. From the time he met Christ in the year 1989 till his last day on earth, he never departed from the way. We were young men in our 20s as young Bankers in the same organization. Tope was the first among us to give his life to Christ and he ministered to the rest of us and we were converted. He started the first Christian fellowship in our work place. He had zeal and passion for Christ and the work of the Kingdom. I remember very well how we thirsted and hungered for the Word of God and fellowship with other saints. In those early days, we would move from the House Hold of God Church in Ikeja to TREM in Akoka, to Deeper Life in Gbagada hunting for the Word of God, collecting tapes and literatures that will broaden our knowledge of Christ and His Kingdom. We never missed Digging Deep and Faith Clinic in the Redeemed Christian Church of God though we were not members of that assembly. Everything of God moved him. Pst. Tope Obayan was the one who brought me to the Living Faith Church in 1993 where we both served and worshipped God until he relocated to the United States with his family. That he was later ordained a Pastor in Redeemed Christian Church of God was not a surprise to me because we all sensed the hand of God upon him. The account of how he slept on Saturday 22nd August, 2020 when he departed this world showed that he finished his assignment in this world on the Altar of prayer and service to God. He was said to be praying and preparing for the Sunday service of the following day in Church and laid on the Altar and there he finished his course – Pastor Timothy Temitope Obayan like Apostle Paul said in - 2Tim 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. He finished his course. What then is our hope? 1Thess. 4:14 - For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ (i.e. Temitope Obayan and other saints) shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. The world lost him but Heaven gained him. Glory be to God. We shall meet again at the feet of Jesus. Rest on beloved. Jesus loves you most.
