Ray passed away peacefully on August 2, 2021 at Mari's Home Care. Ray was born on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts on February 11, 1936 and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. He met Marie Antoinette Aulicino in October, 1957 and they were married on February 15, 1958 in Fairfield, Connecticut. On their wedding day they left Connecticut and were on their way to Inglewood, California for Ray to start school at Northrup Institute of Technology where he received an engineering degree. He was hired by the Boeing Company after graduation and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he worked in Boeing's helicopter facility. He also lived in Wilmington, Delaware for 14 years. A Boeing transfer brought the family to the Seattle area where he has lived since 1979. He loved mountain climbing with his friends, hiking the many trails of Washington, playing golf and building and fixing things. He was an avid reader of everything related to WWll. He retired from the Boeing Company after 35 years. He loved his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years and their daughter Christina Spears-Bartunek, (Rodney) and their granddaughter Micaela Spears Bartunek, and his brother Robert Spears (Lillian) and niece Sandra Granger (Montgomery). His parents Reverend Raymond E Spears and Ruth Haskins Spears preceded him in death. No memorial service is planned.
