He passed away peacefully and surrounded by his cherished family. If you were lucky to know him, you will have experienced Bob’s larger than life personality, his vitality, his giant heart and, above all else, how completely devoted he was to his wife, his children and his fourteen grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was endlessly entertaining and energetic, and had a talent for putting anyone and everyone at ease. Those friends who were part of his “Lift and Learn Lunch and Crunch Bunch” experienced how he brought out the best in people. Following his passion for exercise and physical fitness, Bob used his dynamism, creativity, and sheer grit to help train and motivate those who were suffering from illness or had physical challenges from aging to believe in their ability to overcome or compensate for those challenges and improve their quality of life and self-esteem. He was a greatly admired and beloved ringleader and inspiring communal leader in the Berkshires, continually reaching out and welcoming others to participate in this most unique and supportive “lift and learn” community. To each of his 14 grandchildren, there are no words to express what he meant and gave each one of them as Grandpa Bob, Saba, and Poppa. He was their greatest cheerleader, a love machine, a champion who constantly built them up and made them feel special, their safe haven when they struggled, and of course a boundless source of fun and junk food. As the patriarch of “Troop B”, he taught all 24 of us so much, he loved each of us so deeply and unconditionally and he will forever be in our hearts.
