Ruth Teiko Yahanda passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on September 4, 2020, in Mounds View, Minnesota. Ruth was born in Tacoma, Washington on July 16, 1926. She was happily married to her beloved husband David Yahanda for 57 years. She had a long and successful career with Hennepin County, retiring as a manager in the Data Processing Department in 1987. Ruth was happiest spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her strength, intelligence, humor, and generosity toward those in need. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Sadashichi and Katsu and sisters Hiroko, Mary Anne, Miyoko, Molly, and Sue. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Yahanda and Len Sitomer; grandson, Jason Sitomer; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Bel Rae Senior Living and Fairview Hospice for their compassionate care. Kodens and memorials will be directed to the Minnesota Nikkei Project. A virtual memorial service will be held on October 16th, 2020 on Zoom.
